Alcatel makes middle-of-the-road budget Android smartphones, and that’s about the most that can be said about them. It isn’t a mainstream brand, nor does it dominate a niche. Alcatel phones have a following in Europe, but outside of that region you won’t find any fans. Alcatel-Lucent was a telecom equipment-related giant that launched the Alcatel mobile phone brand in collaboration with TCL of China. TCL later acquired the complete brand and now looks after design, development and marketing of new Alcatel phones. Alcatel-Lucent itself was acquired by Nokia in 2016.
