ASUS is known well for its robust desktops, laptops, and tablets, so it made sense for them to enter the smartphone market. They launched the ‘Zenfone’ series in 2014. What made them unique then was the fact that they used Intel Atom processors instead of Qualcomm chips that everyone else used. Later on, they shifted back to ARM processors as these would handily beat Intel’s at both speed and power consumption. Now, the Zenfone series is yet another one of many eastern smartphone brands that offer big-budget hardware specifications at affordable prices. ASUS phones compete directly with phones from OPPO, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Lenovo, HTC and Huawei.
